FM approved Safety Shutoff Valves
A safety shutoff valve is one of the most important protection devices used to safeguard oil-fired equipment, such as boilers, furnaces, ovens and dryers, from fire and explosion hazards in the "lighting-off" and "firing" operations. It is usually considered the key safety device because the protection provided by other safety devices depends on this valve to shut off the fuel supply if unsafe conditions exist.

A safety shutoff valve is approved by FM. It is in operation is held open either by electric energy or by pressure (oil, gas, air or atomizing medium) or by both. It can be opened, either manually or automatically within five seconds after the holding medium (electric or pressure) is cut off.
